I hope that you will find this area of the website helpful. It provides information about education in Wirral and in particular about the arrangements for admissions to schools.

This will be of particular importance to you if your child is transferring to secondary school in September or into Foundation 2 of primary school. It sets out the arrangements for the allocation of places in schools and lists the schools for which you may express a preference.

Finally, may I say that we are very proud in Wirral of our schools. The standards of achievement are high and the Local Education Authority is committed to helping schools to maintain those standards, and improve upon them.

We are particularly proud to have been awarded Beacon Council Status in 2003 for our work in transforming secondary education and to have received in 2004 a letter of commendation from the Minister as one of the best councils for results at primary level. Commenting on the excellence in Wirral, the judging panel said: "Ofsted grades show that schools in Wirral show a very high level of good and very good schools." I hope that your child will settle happily into his or her new school and be successful there.
