Establishment of a Church of England Controlled School at Millfields Primary School
Under paragraphs 8 and 10 of Schedule 2 to the Education and Inspections Act 2006 (EIA 2006), on 14th January 2010 Cabinet approved the following linked proposals:
- To cease to maintain Millfields Primary School, Willington Avenue, Eastham, Wirral, CH62 9EB on 31st August 2010 and
- That Chester Diocesan Board of Education, Church House, Lower Lane, Aldford, Chester, CH3 6HP should establish a new Voluntary Controlled School on the former Millfields Primary School site from 1st September 2010.

Following the Council’s 2006 review of primary schools in the Bromborough and Eastham area, the Council’s preferred option for the Eastham area was to close St Mary’s CE Primary School in Eastham Village, and to change Millfields Primary School into a Church of England primary school.
Following the decision of the national School’s Adjudicator, St Mary’s CE Controlled Primary School was closed in August 2007. Since then, the Anglican Diocese of Chester, the governing body of Millfields Primary School, and the Local Authority, have been discussing the possibility of Millfields Primary School becoming a Church of England Controlled Primary School.
It is now time to hold a wider consultation with parents, staff, governors and any other people related to Millfields Primary School, in order to help decide
whether this change to Church of England Controlled status should go ahead. Your views are important to us. Please take this opportunity to have your say.

At this meeting, the option will be explained in more detail. Once this has been done, there will be time for people to say what they think about the option.
The staff and governors of the school will be invited to the meeting. Senior staff from the Children and Young People's Department will also be there to hear your views and make careful notes of what is said.
