Proposals for North Birkenhead & Beechwood
VYNER PRIMARY SCHOOL (DfES No. 3442008) & ST OSWALD’S CE PRIMARY SCHOOL (DfES No. 3443012): PROPOSALS FOR CLOSURE AND TO OPEN A NEW CHURCH OF ENGLAND (CONTROLLED) SCHOOL ON THE ST OSWALD’S SITE
The requirements of sections 28 and 29 of, and Part 1 of Schedule 6 to, the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 and the Education (School Organisation Proposals) (England) Regulations 1999 and their subsequent amendments have now been satisfied and the School Organisation Committee has considered the proposals to close Vyner Primary School and St Oswald’s CE Primary School with effect from 31st August 2006 or the nearest practical date thereafter and the opening of a new Church of England (Controlled) School on the St Oswald’s site.
The School Organisation Committee, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by paragraph 3(2) of Schedule 6 to the 1998 Act approves the proposals.

The School Organisation Committee failed to reach a unanimous decision and the proposal has therefore been referred to the office of the Schools Adjudicator.

These meetings are for people who might be directly affected by the options, like parents, staff and governors, to have their say about these options as part of the consultation.
All meetings start at 7 pm.

At this meeting, the options will be explained in more detail. Once this has been done, there will be time for people to say what they think about the options.
The staff and governors of the school will be invited to the meeting.
The Council’s Cabinet member for schools, Councillor Phil Davies, will also be there to hear your views. Senior staff from the Education and Cultural Services Department will also attend to explain the options and make careful notes of what is said.
Anyone who wants to can write down questions or comments and send them to the Director of Education and Cultural Services.
