What Is RSS?
RSS Logo RSS is a new way of getting up to date news.
Rather than visiting several different web pages, the news is read by special feed reader software. You can even access RSS on some modern mobile phones!

Wirral Learning Grid RSS feed
We set up this RSS feed as a new way of finding out all the latest Wirral Learning Grid news. Whenever there is an update or a new page or even a whole new site added you will be the first to know!

How do I get an RSS Feed?
Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) comes with in built RSS News feed reader (We, however, recommend a seperate RSS News Reader, see below)
Simply enter http://www.wirral-mbc.gov.uk/RSS/WLGNews.xml in to the Internet Explorer address bar and the news will be displayed.
Click on the 'Subscribe to this feed' link and all the latest news will be sent to your computer.
Once subscribed to the feed just click on the Feeds icon on the left hand side (you may have to click on View, then Explorer Bar and Feeds or press Ctrl + Shift + J)

Alternatively you can download and install a separate RSS News Reader.
The feed reader can be installed on your home computer or school laptop but we do not recommend installing the reader on the school network.
One such reader is called Snarfer and is available from http://www.snarfware.com/
There are several other free RSS readers available.

You can even view the Learning Grid RSS News on your mobile phone! Some mobile phones are capable of accessing RSS newsfeeds. Type http://www.wirral-mbc.gov.uk/rss/wlgnews.xml in to your mobile phone RSS reader and get the latest Learning Grid news while on the move!
Please check the instructions supplied with your mobile phone for further information

Are there any other RSS News Feeds?
Yes, lots! You can add several different feeds to your reader. This means you can keep up to date with lots of different types of information and news.

Try adding some of these addresses in your reader.
The feed for BBC news is: http://news.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/front_page/rss.xml
BBC Sport have a feed at: http://news.bbc.co.uk/rss/sportonline_uk_edition/front_page/rss.xml
Guardian feed: http://www.guardian.co.uk/rssfeed/0,,1,00.xml
Downing Street News http://www.number-10.gov.uk/rss/rss.asp

If you know of any more useful RSS feeds let us know and we can add it to the list
