Overview by Professor Stephen Harding:
The Vikings first arrived in Wirral in around 902 A.D. and quickly developed many settlements throughout the area. They have left us many clues in the landscape, in place names and in the DNA of local people.

This website, developed in conjunction with Professor Stephen Harding (Wirral's local Viking expert) will highlight much of the evidence left behind and tells the story of the Viking leader, Ingimund, who travelled from Norway to Ireland before settling here in Wirral.
