During the spring term of 1994, Philip Cox and his wife, Lorraine, worked with four Wirral schools for seven weeks.
250 students aged between 5 and 16 created over 30 life-size figures of all types, from Vikings to teenage punks and babies in push chairs.
The materials used were simple; newspapers, card, colour magazines and wrapping paper. The sculptures were not painted, all the rich variety of colour coming entirely from the coloured paper itself.
An exhibition, Paper People was exhibited at the Williamson Art Gallery.
