Play Narration Stop Narration Paul Bearman is a fine art artist specialising in drawing and sculpture, currently working at the Wirral Metropolitan College lecturing on the BA Honours Degree in Fine Art.

He has had solo and group exhibitions throughout Britain, Europe and the USA and indeed public commissions. An example of one of these is Two figures incorporated in benches in the Pinewoods at Formby Point.

He has worked in a variety of residencies including the Tate Gallery Liverpool, as well as schools and heritage centres.

As part of the Art and Architecture 2000, Paul worked in Higher Bebington Junior School and Woodchurch High School.

Bebington Junior:- Images of people made from carpet tubes and milk cartons, covered with bright cut cloth. Also a windmill made from carpet tubes as well as ducks made from card and paper.

Woodchurch High School:- Images of birds made from carpet tubes, packaging cardboard, papier mache, paint spray. Some developed from local environment / camouflaged, e.g. brick wall, litter, etc. etc.

Pauls comments about the project at both schools:

"Overall, I found it a very positive and stimulating experience. It was tremendous seeing how initial ideas and concepts would change and develop as the project progressed. It was a great self-confidence boost for the staff, pupils and myself.
Those sessions were of vital importance as it kept the creative and productive flow going. I was very pleased with the pupils enthusiasm and what they turned out. It has given me many ideas and new ways of working".

Summative comments from Bidston Avenue Primary and Woodchurch High School:

"Pupils and staff gained a huge amount from talking and working with Paul. He was an inspiration to them and they learned a great deal. Pupils were always excited when it was their session and many continued at home.
The whole school was interested in the project which introduced an increased awareness of the subject of Art and Design … Excellent".
