Instructions

1. Load 'Talking First Word'
2. Select colour level - 'Blue'
3. Open a file called 'Name 4A' from the '3½ Floppy [A]'
4. Type your name in the box at the top.
5. Click on 'EDIT', 'REPLACE' and this box will appear.
6. Type 'Sammy' into the top box.
7. Type your name into the second box.
8. Click in the box 'FIND WHOLE WORDS ONLY', then click on 'REPLACE All'
9. Using this skill, now try and replace 'Harry' with the name of a friend of yours. Also replace Price Street with the name of your road, and 'Liverpool' with the place where you live.
10. Boys - replace 'she' with 'he'; Girls - replace 'his' with 'her'
11. Read through your article to check it now makes sense - can you find any mistakes or not? If not, then print your work.

I have used the 'REPLACE' option to change the names in this story so that it is a story about me and a friend of mine called Harry.

Sammy lived with his family in Price Road, Liverpool.

One sunny day, Sammy woke up and rushed downstairs to eat his breakfast. She felt really hungry, so she had two pieces of toast and a glass of milk, before rushing out of the house to play with his friend Harry.

As Sammy walked up Price Road, she found a book, with a blank cover. Sammy thought it was odd that the cover was blank.

Sammy and Harry played in the park all morning, then they went home for lunch. Sammy took the book into his house with them, and put it by his bed. Then she went back out to play with Harry.

At 6 o'clock it was beginning to go dark, so Sammy and Harry walked up Price Street in Liverpool to go to their homes. When Sammy got in, she had his tea, and watched television for an hour. Then Sammy went to bed.

As Sammy walked into his bedroom, she noticed that the book she had found had a picture on it. And, yes, a title too! The title was 'The magical adventures of Sammy and Harry'. Sammy was very surprised, so she started reading the book. And the biggest surprise of all was that the story was about Sammy!!
