This project is aimed at GCSE students who are grade C and above. It gives the students a familiar context in which to work. They are able to translate a simple but inefficient flat file data table into a series of tables, queries, reports and forms to enable the application to be driven by any user.

After viewing the flat file version the students are led by discussion into the requirements of the system and a redesign involving relationships between students, the companies and the teacher mentors. From that point the application is driven by the needs of the various parties including parents, companies, form teachers and students.

The materials give starter examples of reports, forms and queries which can be edited and updated by the students.
