Wirral Picture and letter exchange with Kyotanabe, Japan
For the last 7 years there has been a picture and letter exchange for nursery and primary school children with Kyotanabe Town Hall. Each year there is a different theme, for example, the Year of the Sea, My favourite animal, Dreams for the Future, My favourite book, Famous People, etc. Wirral primary schools are invited to take part each year. This initiative enables children in both Kyotanabe and Wirral to exchange information about themselves and their cultures and countries, thus developing an appreciation and understanding of other nationalities. The Wirral pictures and letters are sent collectively to Japan and vice versa. They are then distributed to each school which has taken part. Some examples of the pictures, letters and artefacts are usually displayed at Wirral Professional Excellence Centre.

Euroscola
Several times a year, the European Parliament’s Euroscola programme brings together secondary school students from the 25 European Union countries for a day of meetings and discussion in Strasbourg. The aim is for students to gain an insight into the workings of the European Parliament, while learning about the lives of young people from other EU countries.
