"Egg Heads"

What will this game will achieve?
These 'egg heads' can be used in a variety of ways to help your child with sorting skills, memory development, early counting, and number skills to six.

How do you play?

    Memory Game
  • Look closely at each Egg Head with your child, discuss what they are wearing and place them in the egg box.
  • Now ask your child to close his/her eyes and remove one egg. Hide it in the bag
  • Ask your child to open his/her eyes and tell you which Egg Head is missing. Can your child describe the missing egg?
  • Repeat this activity with different Egg Heads each time
  • As your child becomes more confident, try removing two Egg Heads
    Sorting Skills
  • Using the sorting cards, try sorting the eggs into 2 sets e.g. wearing hats/not wearing hats, wearing blue/not wearing blue.
  • Then ask your child to sort the Egg Heads using their own criteria.
    Early Counting
  • When sorting the Egg Heads always count how many are in each set
    Number bonds to six
  • Put all the Egg Heads in the tray
  • Ask your child to count how many there are, then close his/her eyes.
  • Remove an egg and hide it in the bag
  • Ask your child to open his/her eyes and tell you how many are missing
  • Repeat this activity by removing a different number of Egg Heads each time.
  • If you child is confident with this you could try recording the sums on paper
