Paul REMMONDS
Performance Coach
Paul Remmonds joined Wirral Metro in April 2009 as its first Performance Coach His many coaching achievements include coaching James Hickman to a world championship, three Olympians, a European medalist, a Commonwealth finalist, a European Junior medalist and a European Youth Olympic Champion. In addition Paul can count amongst his successes numerous International Swimmers, National Champions and 10 National records.
Establishing the City of Manchester Aquatics Swim Team in September 2001 he coached James Hickman to the 2004 Olympic Games, in Athens, and to his fifth successive World Short Course title in the 200m butterfly. Remmonds was an assistant coach to the British Team at the 2004 World Short Course Championships.
Previously Head Coach at City of Glasgow (1997-2000), Derwentside (1988-1997) and Barnet Copthall (1983-1987) he has coached 30 swimmers to international level at Major Games, Senior, Youth and Junior levels including two swimmers to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics - Vicki Horner (GBR) and Marion Madine (IRL).
During his coaching career Remmonds has served as Head Coach for the GB team at the 1995 European Youth Olympic Festival and has international coaching experience at Senior and Youth levels with Great Britain, England and Scotland between 1987 and 2004.
He was awarded the Sport Scotland Performance coach award in 2000.
Remmonds is a sports science graduate of Liverpool John Moores University and holder of the ASA Senior Coach Certificate.
