NEWLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS
NEWLY QUALIFIED TEACHERS IN WIRRAL
Wirral schools welcome newly qualified teachers [NQTs] and have consistently attracted a healthy number of NQTs year on year. Schools appreciate the energy, enthusiasm and optimism that teachers new to the profession bring. Headteachers and their staff have given wholehearted support to the induction process and the importance of laying secure foundations for future professional and career development.
Within the partnership of schools and the Local Authority, we aim to recognise the potential of NQTs and together provide opportunities to develop their professional skills. The Local Authority makes a strong commitment to support schools in the induction process by training induction tutors and newly qualified teachers in addition to monitoring the quality of each induction programme within our schools.
Each NQT receives a portfolio to guide them through their first year together with a comprehensive range of courses and support materials. Most of the courses and support meetings are held at our Education Centre, which is a vibrant and attractive centre, which offers superb facilities and accommodates the Advisory Teacher Service as well as the Schools' Library Service. Our induction programme is included in our successful and valued Management Development Programme. This will provide the opportunity for individuals to gain additional qualifications through local HEIs within a flexible framework.
A good induction programme will help you to establish yourself as swiftly as possible with your classes, and develop your confidence and effectiveness from the outset of your career. It should also help you to build effectively on the knowledge and skills that you have developed during your initial training, to meet the needs of pupils and to provide a strong base for career long progression.
The arrangements for every newly qualified teacher to complete a period of induction provide a bridge from initial teacher training to effective personal practice. Wirral's induction programme is highly regarded and successful. This provides well-targeted support in the first year of teaching, which in turn helps new teachers to give of their best to pupils and to make a real and sustained contribution to school improvement and to raising classroom standards.
Teaching is a creative, intellectually demanding job; it follows that the standards for joining the profession are high. In Wirral you will find a warm welcome, excellent support from colleagues in school and the LA who will give you the benefit of their skills, knowledge and experience to help you to succeed.
