Welcome to Teaching in Wirral

It is our mission within the Children & Young People's Department to develop potential, promote well being and reduce social exclusion. Our aim is to provide excellent education and to achieve continuous improvement in schools through the delivery of our support and services.

80% of Wirral Schools are rated good or very good by government inspectors, compared to a national average of 73%. The LA fosters genuine proactive partnership, development and working amongst all the committed partners to support this achievement. Headteachers are seconded in developmental roles, excellent teachers are recognised through seconded advisory roles and policy is developed through involvement with schools.

Support for Wirral teachers commences with our Newly Qualified Induction Programme and continues through the Management of Professional Development Programme where the different expectations and aspirations at varying stages in the career of an individual teacher are recognised.

Wirral LA supports the National Well-Being Programme and all Wirral schools have the opportunity to be part of the Wirral Well-Being Programme.

In Wirral we will continue to raise standards and the quality of provision in all educational settings and seek excellent teachers to help us achieve our goals.
