The Advisory Teacher Service
The Advisory Teacher Team, part of the Curriculum Advice and Support Service, based at the Professional Excellence Centre is first and foremost concerned with supporting school improvement and raising standards throughout the Education Service.
Schools can purchase their choice level of service as part of the agreement including school based and classroom support, ATs are available to visit schools to assist middle and senior management in devising policy and implementing school development plans. Their work at the PEC will involve them with all teachers from the newly qualified to the experienced head and include whole school events on training days.
By seconding teachers to the Service from Wirral schools for up to 2 years it is possible to respond to changing local and national priorities. Many ATs go on to gain promotion within schools, higher education and inspection/advisory services. Others take back to their schools considerable knowledge and expertise.
All information on courses run by ATs is published termly to schools purchasing from the service agreement in Wirral's Directory of INSET Opportunities and Management Development Brochure.
